In this session we will discuss and explore the value of meditation and mindfulness practices, which can be an important cornerstone for self-care. These proven techniques help to reduce stress; increase productivity; increase mental and physical health; decrease volatility in response to anger, fear, and frustration; develop compassion towards yourself and others; and generally allow you to lead a much more joyous life.

In this session Kenton Yeager and Linda Fitzpatrick of the American Meditation Society will discuss and explore the value of meditation and mindfulness practices, which can be an important cornerstone for self-care. These proven techniques help to reduce stress; increase productivity; increase mental and physical health; decrease volatility in response to anger, fear, and frustration; develop compassion towards yourself and others; and generally allow you to lead a much more joyous life. We will discuss meditation practice and give you usable techniques to begin practicing right away. No previous experience needed!

Bio:

Kenton Yeager is a tenured professor and head of the graduate program in lighting design for theatre at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. At UTK, he also teaches courses in Meditation for Academic Success, Techniques for Unlocking the Creative Mind through Meditation and Visualization, Waking Up the Real You, and Understanding Anger and Fear. He has been involved in these personal studies and practices for over 30 years. Kenton also serves as the president of the American Meditation Society, and is the head of the UTK Mindfulness Community of Scholars.
