Receiving a grant is cause for huge celebration. However, the work is not done once the check is received. During this training, we will explore the best practices in creating and maintaining systems for continued grant compliance. 

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify what is involved in receiving, reporting, and tracking grant requirements
  • Explore strategies to complete grant requirements
  • Understand systems to effectively and efficiently facilitate grant compliance

ABN Fund Development Certificate:

This workshop counts as 3 credits towards the ABN Fund Development Certificate. To receive this certificate, a participant must earn 18 credits (six qualifying courses) within a two-year period. Credits are tracked on individual sub-accounts (not admin accounts) as course credit stays with the individual. For more information, contact Chloe Perry at cperry@betternonprofits.org.

 

CFRE Credits:

Full participation in Advanced Grant Writing is applicable for 3 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or re-certification. For more information about the Certified Fund Raising Executive credential visit www.cfre.org.

  

Level:

This course is intended for beginners with little to no experience in the topic. Please keep in mind, the levels are simply a guideline. Please contact Chloe Perry at cperry@betternonprofits.org for specific questions about the level of this course.

 

BIO:

Terrence Carter has 30 years of experience in community, economic, and business development. He earned his bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of Tennessee and his master’s degree in public administration from Baruch College in New York, NY.

Carter worked for the City of Knoxville for 10 years, Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) for two and a half years, and served as executive director for the Partnership for Neighborhood Improvement for seven years. He has been a professional development instructor for the University of Tennessee since 2004.

Carter currently serves as the director of economic and business development for the Knoxville Area Urban League, working with local, state, and federal organizations to plan and implement economic development projects that spur business growth and economic development throughout Knox County and the East Tennessee region. He oversees a $4.5 million loan program, entrepreneurship training program, workforce development and employment assistance, facilitates business seminars and workshops, and writes grants and investment proposals. Carter is a results-oriented leader with demonstrated initiative and creativity, and has a proven track record in developing and implementing mission-critical strategies, projects, and programs.
