Session Four: How to Live Your Purpose with Passion

Beloved author Parker Palmer shares, “we have to find a way to build a bridge between our identity and integrity as adults and the work that we do in the world.” Do you live out your core values in all arenas of your life? Have you connected with intention to the people, projects and activities that light your fire within and fuel your well-being?  Join us as we highlight the work and research of Parker Palmer, author and founder of Center for Courage and Renewal.

 

This is the final of four sessions in an engaging series highlighting contemporary thought leaders around well-being. Each session will be infused with real-world lessons and strategies for application in your personal and professional lives.

 

You are encouraged to attend multiple sessions in the series for maximum impact and growth; yet each session has been designed to stand alone.

 

Learning Objectives Include:

  • Practice creating a “circle of trust” among participants
  • Evaluate current practice of balancing energy expenditure with energy renewal
  • Designate three action steps related to spiritual well-being

ABN Leadership Certificate:

This workshop counts as 3 credits towards the ABN Leadership Certificate. To receive this certificate, a participant must earn 18 credits (six qualifying courses) within a two-year period. Credits are tracked on individual sub-accounts (not admin accounts) as course credit stays with the individual. For more information, contact Samantha Amick at samick@betternonprofits.org.

 

SHRM Credits:

Alliance for Better Nonprofits is recognized by Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM. Full participation in Well-Being Series #4: How to Live Your Purpose with Passion is valid for 3 PDCs for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM. Level:

This course is intended for beginners with little to no experience in the topic. Please keep in mind, the levels are simply a guideline. Please contact Samantha Amick at samick@betternonprofits.org for specific questions about the level of this course.

 

BIO: Booth Andrews

Booth Andrews helps build strong, effective, resilient leaders and humans by acting as a mentor and guide through strategic coaching, consulting, educational programs and public speaking. She has 20 years of experience leading individuals, teams and organizations through strategic, operational, and cultural growth and transformation. Her multi-disciplinary, professional experience includes 10 years in commercial real estate, 6 years as the CEO of a regional non-profit, and more than 10 years of consulting in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. She has been licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee since 1997. Since 2015, in addition to her independent consulting practice, Booth has been a trainer, mentor and consultant for the Alliance for Better Nonprofits and the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center.

 

Booth has completed 3 Olympic-distance triathlons, 2 half-marathons, has been a CrossFit competitor, and a fitness instructor. Booth's long track record of community involvement includes: City of Knoxville Industrial Development Board, Executive Women's Association, University of Tennessee National Alumni Association Women's Council, University of Tennessee at Knoxville Chancellor's Associates, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee, United Way of Greater Knoxville, Nucleus Knoxville, the Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma Kappa Corporation Board, and the University of Tennessee College of Law Alumni Advisory Council. Booth is a graduate of the Leadership Knoxville Class of 2006, was named to the Inaugural Class of '40 Under 40' by the Knoxville Business Journal in 2007 and was a 2012 Finalist for the YWCA's Tribute to Women.

Booth has three children who are her heart, and she loves fresh flowers, riding her road bike, swimming, naps, screened in porches, and lifting heavy things.

 

BIO: Angie Hamstead

Angie Hamstead founded The Hozho Project in 2015. She is passionate about the creative process of designing and facilitating retreats and workshops, where her talents and passions intersect for the good of others. This avenue of personal and professional support is infused with the desire to support others toward self-care, healthy management of energy, highly effective communication and intentional living. Her mission in founding The Hozho Project is to uplift, inspire, educate and empower othersthrough personal growth that encourages professional excellence.

 

Over a span of 26 years working within the educational and non-profit realms, Angie has facilitated hundreds of learning sessions. A native of Atlanta, GA who embraces Knoxville as home, Angie earned her degrees from Spring Hill College (Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Business) and Georgia State University (Master’s in Education).

Angie has also earned certifications by The Consortium for Social Enterprise Effectiveness (CSEE) at the University of Tennessee, Advanced Cognitive Coaching training through the Center for Cognitive Coaching and holds a Specialization in Positive Psychology from The University of Pennsylvania.
