You’ve got a list of people to email, but your not sure about what you’ll say, or how to send your email. In this training you’ll learn about the technical software options you have sending email, what type of content should go into your email, and how to use two simple campaigns to increase your volunteer and donor awareness.

Learning Objectives Include:

  • Understand the technology software tools for building and sending emails.
  • Determine what type emails they should send (and shouldn’t).
  • Send a campaign that creates awareness with volunteers or donors.

ABN Nonprofit Marketing Certificate:

This workshop counts as 3 credits towards the ABN Nonprofit Marketing Certificate. To receive this certificate, a participant must earn 18 credits (six qualifying courses) within a two-year period. This course is intended for beginners with little to no experience in the topic. Please keep in mind, the levels are simply a guideline. Please contact Eddie Crim at for specific questions about the level of this course.



Gavin Baker, Principal of Baker Labs, has taught literally thousands of people about social media over the last five years. Baker has spoken about using social and digital media to connect with customers and build businesses at numerous conferences and events, including Social Fresh – Nashville and the Social Media Business Forum, Durham, NC. Locally, he’s spoken at events including the Entrepreneurial Imperative, Bright Ideas Series of the Knoxville Chamber, Knoxville Social Media Association’s Social Media Summit, and the University of Tennessee MBA and Executive MBA classes. He is on the board of Social Media Club: Knoxville, Nucleus Knoxville, Young Professionals of Knoxville, SoundCrawl, United Way of Knoxville Marketing and Branding Committee and a past recipient of the Knoxville Overground Startup Awards 2008.
