How can you ensure that your nonprofit website stands out from the rest? This class will cover best practices for creating nonprofit websites that convert visitors into donors or volunteers, and will also include several tips and tricks you will be able to implement right away. This course will not be platform specific, so whether your site is a custom built WordPress site, a quick Squarespace page, or a completely custom CMS, this course will have something for you.

Learning Objectives Include:

  • Understand how to consistently implement brand standards
  • Learn design basics including how to best use photography
  • Understand how to use your website to tell the story of your organization
  • Learn current design trends, features, and plug-ins
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of SEO and how site design will impact search ranking

ABN Nonprofit Marketing Certificate:

This workshop counts as 3 credits towards the ABN Nonprofit Marketing Certificate. To receive this certificate, a participant must earn 18 credits (six qualifying courses) within a two-year period. CFRE Credits:

Full participation in Advanced Grant Writing is applicable for 3 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or re-certification. For more information about the Certified Fundraising Executive credential visit www.cfre.org.

 

 

Level:

This course is intended for beginners with little to no experience in the topic. Please keep in mind, the levels are simply a guideline. Please contact Samantha Amick at samick@betternonprofits.org for specific questions about the level of this course.

 

BIO:

Through his company New Frame Creative, Greg Adkins has personally built websites for more than 50 nonprofit agencies, and has provided a variety of other services including everything from video production and social media management to logo design and print materials. He is an expert level WordPress developer and an accomplished designer, specializing in building websites that look fantastic, while remaining simple for busy nonprofit staff to keep current and updated.

 

Greg is a sixth-generation Knoxvillian who created his first website in 1994 from his dorm room at the University of Tennessee. He has a deep love for his hometown and is passionate about working with those who are seeking to make Knoxville a better place to work and live. With over twenty years of website design experience, over two-hundred websites launched, and multiple successful search engine optimization and pay-per-click campaigns completed, Greg has developed a finely-tuned sense of how to craft digital marketing campaigns that delight clients and generate results.

 

Greg received his B.A. in creative writing from the University of Tennessee (with minors in broadcasting and music theory) in 1998. He is half people-person, half introvert, which allows him to feel equally at home in meetings with clients or tucked away working on a design project in his favorite downtown coffee shop.
