Successful “ask” events raise significant money AND create donors committed to your mission. This course is for those who would like to learn about the ask event or those who have an existing ask event and want to learn how to make it even more successful. Led by Kim Lauth, CFRE.

Learning Objectives Include:

  • Evaluate you current fundraising events and decide what’s worth keeping and what needs to go.
  • Understand the components of a powerful “ask” and how to make sure attendees are ready to give.
  • Create and implement a successful “Ask” Event strategy – from planning to attendee follow up.

ABN Fund Development Certificate:

This workshop counts as 3 credits towards the ABN Fund Development Certificate. To receive this certificate, a participant must earn 18 credits (six qualifying courses) within a two-year period. Credits are tracked on individual sub-accounts (not admin accounts) as course credit stays with the individual. For more information, contact Samantha Amick at samick@betternonprofits.org.

CFRE Credits:

Full participation in Only Start One New Event: The Ask Event is applicable for 3 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or re-certification. Level:

This course is intended for beginners with little to no experience in the topic. Please keep in mind, the levels are simply a guideline. Please contact Samantha Amick at samick@betternonprofits.org for specific questions about the level of this course.

 

BIO:

Kim Lauth, CFRE has over 27 years of experience in the nonprofit field and has helped raise millions of dollars for charitable causes.  For the last 5 years she has owned Kim Lauth Consulting, LLC, a full-service consultancy focused on helping charitable organizations build their capacity through fundraising, coaching, strategy and training. She is also an expert trainer and consultant with the Alliance for Better Nonprofits in Knoxville, TN.

 

She is a past president of the Smoky Mountain Planned Giving Council and the Great Smoky Mountain Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).  She was named “Fundraising Professional of the Year” by AFP in 2016. Kim has held the CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) certification since 2002.

 

A sought-after speaker and trainer, Kim launched the “Nonprofit Superpowers” podcast and video series in 2017.

 

Kim serves on several local boards and recently completed a 2-year term on the national board of directors for the League of Women Voters, in Washington, D.C.

 

In her free time, you can find her, along with her husband Kent seeing her favorite 1980’s bands in concert. She’s the one dancing like nobody's watching.
