<description><![CDATA[<p align="left" style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Family Promise of Knoxville works with the interfaith community to shelter families with children experiencing homelessness. Homelessness, and in particular family homelessness, is a significant issue in Knoxville. Family Promise is currently the&nbsp;<b style=""><i>only&nbsp;</i></b>option for families that have a mom and dad, or a single father, or a boy age 12 to have shelter together. Those who shelter on a “dormitory” style cannot shelter families such as these together and often “night shelters” are not conducive to the needs of children. Family Promise, by partnering with area congregations to provide overnight shelter on a rotating basis, can shelter any family configuration as each family has a room dedicated to them for sleeping each night.</span></font></p> <p align="left" style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font style="font-size: 16px;" color="#000000" face="Arial">Identifying any potential conflicts of interest.</font></li></ul> <p align="left" style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><b><u><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Time Demands (Approximate)</span></u></b></font></p> <ul type="disc"> <li style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Attend and actively participate in at least 75% of board meetings.</span></font></li> <li style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Eleven monthly board meetings – 1.25 hours. Meeting on the third Tuesday in each month.</span></font></li> <li style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Committee work – 1-2 hours per month, or as decided by the committee.</span></font></li> <li style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Annual planning retreat – 1 day, usually a Saturday in January. 6-8 hours.</span></font></li> <li style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Work to set up and take down events. Directors are asked to consider a gift that is “significant according to their circumstances.”&nbsp;&nbsp;(100% board giving is expected).</span></font></li> <li style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sell tickets to fundraising events.</span></font></li> <li style="background: white; text-align: left;"><font color="#000000" style="font-size: 14px;" face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Recruit sponsorships for fund raising events.
